The Irish housing market
continues to be affected by economic woes which are dominating the global economic agenda. In autumn 2011 market
surveys have shown that house prices are still continuing to fall with Dublin hosue prices at least 50% below their
peak, with houses taking twice as long to sell in some areas of Ireland. Some reports have suggested that home asking prices actually rose in Carlow
in summer-autumn 2011 but elsewhere there have been house price falls inIreland.
Houses are dwellings that are typical of settled agricultural and industrial societies such
asIreland. The floor surface area of a house, excluding the garage and other
non-living spaces equates to the domestic living space. The number of floors in a house is a large
factor in determining the square footage of a home. Most houses in Ireland have several
large rooms with specialised functions and several very small rooms for other various reasons. These include a
living/eating area, a sleeping area, a bathroom and toilet(s). Modern conventional homes typically contain a
bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and a living room.
